// Confusion//

It took me quite a while to understand, that my German teacher, who spoke Swedish, wasn’t talking about eggs in marine environment but about algae in marine environment.

Imagine my mental picture: chicken eggs floating around in the oceans.

I got confused because speaking with a German-Swedish accent make the German word for eggs [Eier] and the Swedish word for algae [alger] to sound very, very identical.

// Sh*t my teacher says//

I have this teacher, who’s a bit…weird.

- You there, wake up!
- What’s that noise? Stop it! (the noise came outside of our room)
- I did NOT say that!
- There’s an other discussion going on over here in the room and that’s STRICTLY forbidden!
- We’ll now do free exercises. With that I mean, do the heck what you want for 15 minutes.

// Things that brighten up my day//

Got an e-mail from one of the teachers I had as I studied in Berlin. He told me he’s coming to my town the hold a lecture about aryanization and asked if I wanted to come and watch it.

That he even remembers me AND where I live is pretty fucking amazing, I must have been memorable (or at least the essay I wrote). Especially since he’s German too (and a pretty famous historian in Germany), cause German teachers tend to be a bit in their own world and don’t really care that much personally about the students.

So of course I’m going to watch his lecture and hear about the end of Jewish business in Nazi Berlin.

// The book about Berlin//

Ich still meet my German teacher from high school from time to time. We always go to a café and talk about everything. She loves when I go to study in Germany, cause she once did it herself.

As a surprise, she gave me a book about Berlin. It’s about the history of Berlin, which suits me well, cause I’m gonna study history in Berlin. She knows me so well and is so adorable.
