// Steady rain//

I was so ready to go and work out. Changed to my training clothes, braided my hair and just about to put on my jacket and jump on my bike. But then suddenly I hear a sound. The sound of rain. It’s pouring like hell outside so now I’m sitting here with my sports bra and is major disappointed at mother nature. You made rain yesterday, wasn’t that enough? No, apparently not if you live in Sweden.

// Candidate. //

I just got back from an interview with one of the local newspapers. I’m one of ten candidates for the contest “Uppsala’s environment hero”. How good doesn’t that sound? I’m so flattered that they chose me to be one of the nominees.

And here’s an old picture of me, a little bit less tired and hungry than I am right now. It’s been a busy, busy day.

// Thinking about Black Friday…//

You know you have done a good job, when people get so affected by your project that they start crying.

We built this “cage” and put the same amount of garbage that a household generates every month in Sweden (160 kg/352lbs). It’s a lot more in other countries, especially in the U.S.

We also showed pictures of a recycling plant outside Uppsala, where they could see the mountain of hazardous waste. This was mostly the reason why the crying happened. People realized that the system we have to organize waste isn’t working. At all. It’s unsustainable.

So how can we stop this? It’s simple, really. Stop buying so fucking much stuff!

We don’t need days like Black Friday.

// Things that brighten up my day//

Got an e-mail from one of the teachers I had as I studied in Berlin. He told me he’s coming to my town the hold a lecture about aryanization and asked if I wanted to come and watch it.

That he even remembers me AND where I live is pretty fucking amazing, I must have been memorable (or at least the essay I wrote). Especially since he’s German too (and a pretty famous historian in Germany), cause German teachers tend to be a bit in their own world and don’t really care that much personally about the students.

So of course I’m going to watch his lecture and hear about the end of Jewish business in Nazi Berlin.

Enjoy this while you can. No more pictures for some time now, cause the planet is calling.
